MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN HELP
What is Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Advantage Plans, also called Medicare Part C, are a way to get the benefits provided with Medicare Part A and Part B, but set a limit on what you pay out of pocket. Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by Medicare-approved private companies, who are obliged to follow the rules set by Medicare. As well, most Medicare Advantage Plans include drug coverage (Medicare Part D). Sound simple enough? We get that the process can quickly get complicated. Our expert agents are here to guide you through the entire process with professional Medicare Advantage Plan help.
How Medicare Advantage works
In the majority of cases, you will need to use the health care providers who participate in the plan's network and service area to ensure the lowest cost. Some plans also offer out-of-network coverage, but this may entail higher out-of-pocket costs. Just remember: you must use the card from your Medicare Advantage Plan to get Medicare-covered services. You'll want to always keep your red, white, and blue Medicare card also safe, in case you want to switch back to Original Medicare.
How to enroll in Medicare Advantage Plan
The initial enrollment period is three months before you turn 65, and lasts until three months after. If you don't enroll in this period there are two options: the annual election period of open enrollment period. The "annual election period" (AEP) runs from October 15 to December 7 each year. When you sign up, coverage begins on January 1 of the following year. The open enrollment period for Medicare Advantage is from January 1 to March 31 of each year. During this time you can also switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare. The last option is a special election period. If you miss the initial enrollment or the AEP, you can speak to a licensed Medicare agent for professional Medicare Advantage Plan help to see if you qualify for the special election period.
